George Maurice Morris 'n, president of the American Bar Association, was recently honored by more than 800 leading lawyers and statesmen at the 71st Annual Dinner of The Bar Association of the District of Columbia. The tributes from his associates which were tendered to Mr. Morris on this occasion were many, and all were generous in their praise of Mr. Morris as a man, a lawyer, and a patriot. In his introductory remarks Toastmaster Homer S. Cummings, former Attorney General of the United States, expressed his "profound respect" for the guest of honor and praised him as a "distinguished lawyer, and a fine scholar," to whom the Bar and the public at large owe a debt of gratitude. High spot of the evening was the presentation to Mr. Morris of an illuminated resolution by the District of Columbia Bar Association, commending him for past successes and wishing him luck in future endeavors. After graduation from Dartmouth, Mr. Morris attended the University of Chicago and was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1915. During 1917 and 1918 he served in the United States Army. In 1919 he took up the practice of law in Washington where he has become a tax and administrative law expert. He is a member of the Association of Practitioners before the Interstate Commerce Commission, the American Society of International Law, and the American Peace Society.
