There's a niche for every man in the Army, and Lt. Robert Alpert '39 has found his in faraway Africa, where he is serving with the U. S. forces. Lt. Alpert is Special Service Officer for Morale and Entertainment and, according to a recent issue of Stars and Stripes, official Army newspaper, he is producing plays for the soldiers in that theatre of war and doing a bang-up job of it. He has recently produced a play "Yardbird Revue" with an all-soldier cast, which, after its premiere at Oran, was shown in numerous Army camps in North Africa, where it was a decided success. Hit song of the show, written by Lt. Alpert, was entitled "O'er the Ocean Blue." It has been copyrighted and will soon be heard here in the States. Lt. Alpert has been in the Army for some time. He was first stationed at Camp Lee, Va., and then sent to Officer Candidate School from which he graduated and received his commission. He went overseas several months ago.
