THE OFFICE OF Technical Information of the Army Ground Forces has com- missoned the National Ski Patrol System to select applicants for the Mountain Troops of the U. S. Army. While men with skiing, mountaineering, trapping, timber cruising, and similar outdoor experience are particularly well suited for service in the Mountain Troops, the National Ski Patrol points out that physical requirements for this outfit are no different than those for any other type of Army service. Men awaiting induction—and this includes Enlisted Reserves—should make application for mountain training through the National Ski Patrol System, located at 415 Lexington Avenue, New York City. Applicants must fill out a questionnaire which, if approved by the National Ski Patrol System, will be sent to the Adjutant General's Office in Washington. The applicant is then assigned to the Mountain Training Center, Camp Hale, Colorado, after he has gone to the Recruit Reception Center. No permission is needed from a local draft board totake these steps to seek assignment in theMountain Troops.
Men who are already assigned to camps for basic training may seek reassignment to the Mountain Training Center by making application to the National Ski Patrol System which will forward their questionnaires to the Adjutant General's Office.
