A September 7th letter from Newton gives us these items: He had a good rest for four weeks at Peaks Island, Portland, Me. While there he had a luncheon with Frederick H. Frost, son of our Edwin and Mary, His home is in Westbrook, Me. His daughter Holley, eighteen years old, has just entered Northwestern University. His daughter Jocelyn, sixteen years, and his son Edwin Brant Frost 11, fourteen, are both at school in Westbrook. Frederick is a graduate of the University of Chicago and, Newton says, is now in the Research Department of the S. D. Warren Cos. Paper Mills in Westbrook, doing remarkable work developing paper for special new uses.

Billie also spent the last week of July with Pete and Eleanor in Hingham, Mass. In August he spent a day with Wales at Old Orchard Beach, Me. Although Wales is confined to a wheel chair in his home, he is very alert in talking about baseball, football and the good old times we had at Dartmouth.

Newton sends a word of special appreciation to all who helped keep '86 in a top position among contributors to the Alumni Fund. He will spend the winter in Winter Park, Fla. Both he and I hope soon to get in touch with all of you.

I spent a healthful summer in Castine, Me. As from the rocky shore I watched Penobscot Bay broadening into the sea, I have repeated over these lines:

You never grow tired of watching the sea,— It imparts a sense of immensity, And inspires your soul to forget its care In the larger view of God everywhere.
