Gift to Library

THE LIBRARY HAS BEEN presented a collection of 8000 rare bookplates by Arthur F. Gray and his son Arthur H. Gray '11. The gift is especially rich in modern engraved plates with such English' artists as Eve, Craig and Sherborn being well represented. There are many plates by E. H. Garrett, W. F. Hopson, Sydney Smith, J. F. Spenceley, E. D. French and others of the foremost American engravers.

The Gray Collection combined with the Frederick Libbie Collection of 15,000 book- plates given the Library by Josiah M. Fowler '00 makes the Library's collection of book- plates one of the largest in the country.
