February 1944

EDWARD M. ALLEN, founder and proprietor of Allen's Drug Store, well-known meeting spot of thousands of Dartmouth men, died on January 3, 1944, at the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital. For 40 years the Allen Drug Company has successfully catered to the college student body. "Meet me at Allen's" has been a byword among Dartmouth boys since the store was first opened.

Mr. Allen was 76 years old. He spent his entire life in the drug business, beginning at 18 years of age as joint owner of a store in Andover, Mass. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Hanover, and opened his store on Main Street, where he remained until his death.
