THE DARTMOUTH COLLEGE Athletic Council ended the fiscal year 1944-45 with an operating surplus of $14,962.77, it has been announced by William H. McCarter, director of athletics. Total income was listed at $147,263.33 and expenses at $132,300.56 for the year ending June 30.
Football income greater than was first budgeted accounted for the year's favorable financial showing. The $117,586 received compared with only $74,232 of the year before, while the net football surplus of $76,374 compared with $45,799 the year before. The DCAC's over all surplus of $14,962 compared with an operating deficit of $9,849 for 1943-44.
The general surplus of the athletic teams was $55,132 after expenses of $74, 954 had been deducted from total income of $130,086. This surplus had to cover, however, administrative costs of $20,904; grounds maintenance of $ to,488; training room costs of $6,815; field house costs of $6,217; general equipment of $3,991; and hockey rink expenses of $845.
