If any of you by some mischance missed the article "Dartmouth's River" in the ALUMNI MAGAZINE for June, by all means look lively and dig up that issue right now, while you're thinking about it. Turn to Page 11 and read orie of the most delightful things of the year, and thank Dr. Joe Pollard's wife, Alice, for an added insight into "The Variable Connecticut" which "has enriched College history.' It may give you a touch of Hanover home sickness, but who ever minded that?
Due to the welcome rush of news to your column during the past couple of months, we've had to hold a couple of items in reserve. So, to do a quick flashback to late spring
Kanky Chun and Comdr. Charlie Zimmerman represented '23 at a special luncheon meeting of the Dartmouth Club of Hawaii, where the guest of honor was "Doc" O'Connor 'l2, National Chairman of the American Red Cross.
Paul McBown of San Mateo and Dick Townsend of Frisco attended the Annual Dinner of the North California-Nevada Alumni Association at the University Club of San Francisco. The Townsends really turned out in force, as Dick's father, Jim '94, and brother, Ted '19 were there too.
Swede Swenson turned out for a special meeting of the Wisconsin Alumni Association at Milwaukee.
Hal Fitts arranged the annual dinner of the Washington Alumni Association at the Hotel Statler, Washington, D. C. We note from a previous issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE that Hal arranged a "magnificient program." (How about this one for "Col. Stoopnagle's Fictionary Unabashed" in Liberty—as a combination meaning both magnificent and efficient?)
Did all you guys notice Dr. Colin Stewart in the picture of the Medical School Faculty in the August issue?
Roy Height was recently elected to the executive committee of the Central New Jersey Dartmouth Club.
According to latest reports, Frank Damon has received his discharge from the Coast Guard and is now at 310 Orange Ave., Coronado, Calif. Frank's former address was Council Bluffs, lowa.
On September 26, Dr. Walt Rahmanop married Mrs. Beatrice Allen at his home in Bedford, N. H., where they will live. Walt's office is in Manchester. Much happiness to you both!
Wah-Hoo-Wahs for Henry Hudson and Dave Curtiss, promoted to captain and commander respectively.
The Alumni Council meets at the Dartmouth Club in New York on November 8 and 9, preceding the celebration of Dartmouth Night at the Club on the eve of the Princeton game. Hope to see a bunch of you there, and that you'll be primed with news of some of the fellows whose names don't get into these columns often enough!
TOASTS TO EACH OTHER are drunk at home by Lt. Col. Louis Van Orden '23 and his son, 2d Lt. Louis Jr. '46. Colonel Van Orden has been awarded the Bronze Star Medal.
Secretary, 84 Hillside Ave., New Rochelle, N. Y, Treasurer, 32 Ridgeland Terrace, Rye, N. Y.
TWOTERS- Are you dragging your feet? More than one hundred o£ you are and the dead weight is putting a strain on the other one hundred and fifty. It works out like this: The class pays the ALUMNI MAGAZINE for a minimum number of subscriptions which number must equal the number of graduates— in our case 252 paying $2 each. For some time, this amount has been coming out of the pockets of those who pay this $4 each year (half for dues, half for the MAGAZINE). SO you can see old Twenty-Two isn't doing so well. Frankly we need the support of each Twoter. We can meet the goal easily if each one of us does his part—now. How about it, Twoter? REX.
