Col. Charles A. French, city engineer of Laconia, N. H., recently addressed the Rotary Club there on the work of his municipal department.

The firm of Piper and Van Horn, Portland, Oregon, have been appointed divisional attorneys for the Great Northern railroad. They recently presented in the federal court for their district, as counsel for the state of Oregon, a case involving the entire structure of the state tax system.

Guy W. Cox is one of the guarantors of the grand opera season in Boston this winter.

Marion, daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E. R. Wright of Gilmanton, N. H., is a member of the freshman class at the University of New Hampshire.

Dr. and Mrs. Arthur J. Lougee of Fryeburg, Me., are spending the winter at St. Petersburg, Fla., as usual.

Theodore L. Harley is serving his second year as president of the Chicago High School Assistant Principals' Club.

A. O. Caswell is in his 17th year as superintendent of schools at Milford, Mass. His son, John Olden Caswell, is a sophomore in the Milford High School.
