THE EDWARD M. CHASE prize of $200, established by bequest of the late Mr. Chase of Manchester, N. H., will be awarded this year for the first time, President Hopkins has announced. The prize, which will be presented annually, will go to the Dartmouth undergraduate or member of the Dartmouth V-12 Unit who submits the best essay on a subject relating to the promotion of world peace.
Direction of the contest is in the hands of the executive committee of the Division of the Social Sciences which is headed by Prof. Earl R. Sikes as acting chairman.
Mr. Chase, the donor of the prize, though not a Dartmouth graduate, was interested in the College as a resident of New Hampshire.
