THE LAST CONVOCATION for the Dartmouth V-12 Unit was held on Sunday, October 14, in Webster Hall in honor of the 132 men scheduled to leave the Navy college training program at the close of the seventh and final term of the Unit. On November 1 the Unit became officially designated as the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps and V-12 Unit, Dartmouth College.
Captain John B. Rooney, USN, of the Training Division, Bureau of Naval Personnel, was the guest of honor and chief speaker at the Convocation. Captain Damon E. Cummings, USN, commanding officer of the Unit, delivered the valedictory.
A/S Richard A. Egdahl, USNR, of the Unit, was spokesman for the men who went to inactive duty at the end of the term; and Pvt. Allan E. McMichael, USMCR, spoke in behalf of the men who are to remain at the College. The Dartmouth Glee Club also took part in the program.
