Before many more months have passed you will receive some definite and glowing words about our recently postponed and presently planned TENTH REUNION. Committees are meeting shortly (will have met when you read this) and we'll tip you in as soon as we know the good and glorious word.

When we do gather for that conclave, tall and wild will be the stories and experiences of some of us in various dark and strange parts of the globe: how Moe who hadn't seen Joe since June of 1935 found him under an Übangi leaf on the shores of the lower Congo, and was just about to shake his hand when McCarthy stepped out from behind a nearby native or Red Cross gal and brought them both up to date on all of us. Dark and tall, wild and wooly, high and wide—the tales we'll tell will be all of that, but we're sure that no one will ever be as surprised as were we when we encountered a classmate one Saturday night about two months ago. We usually spend our Saturday > nights on board the good sloop Venture in the nearby Chesapeake Bay (your Uncle Reg Bankart joined us there the weekend after Labor Day), but this particular weekend we headed North to New York and Greenwich and on up the Hudson to that renowned Juvenile Spa at Poughkeepsie. As we were admiring the smart bow tie and well- tailored suit of a citizen who stood in the doorway, we so envied him his garb and fell into such a pleasant reverie about it all that we hardly noticed what he looked like; in fact he had to cross the room and inquire something about, Had we both been let out of the same Museum, before we recognized that old peer of peeraders, the true bonvivant, Bud Fraser! After that, the years dropped away like fall leaves, and we had a bit of a reunion.

From the Distaff Side .... at 850 North 11th Street, Reading, Pa., "Lt. Frank Elliott, M.C. is now assigned to shore duty at U. S. Naval Hospital, Fort Eustis, Va., after 22 months of sea duty. Sincerely, Alice Elliott."

.... At 15 Nobscot Road, Newton, Mass "Thought you might be interested in knowing that Kenneth is on the U.S.S. Antietam—as assistant communications officer. The Antietam is a large carrier vessel—they helped in the occupation of Korea and are now patroling the Yellow Sea. I just hope the boys will all be home as soon as possible. Sincerely, Phyllis Kurson."

.... At Arden, Glenview, Ky "I just had news that my husband—Lt. Robert W. Rounsavall Jr., USMC is on his way home from Okinawa—going inactive! He has been overseas with the Marines for 14 months—saw action on Iwo Jima and then went into Okinawa shortly after that was secured. His home coming is the most exciting news and next is his returning to civilian lifel Cordially, Gretchen C. Rounsavall."

.... In Ashtabula, Ohio .... "It seems many centuries ago since you paid a visit to Ashtabula. Ty has been on Tinian in the Marians for the past nine months, and is now waiting in Saipan Harbor on a ship ready to take off for Japan. I have two children to cope with at this point. The little girl you met is now almost five, and little Ty is two and a half—the image of his father! Whenever you get back to Cleveland please stop in Ashtabula again. Sincerely, Clare Carlisle."

.... At 52 South St., Oberlin, Ohio .... "Ted is a captain in the Marine Corps as of August 31. Toward the end of his six months on Okinawa he had the interesting assignment of commanding a small unit on detached duty in the northern hills of the island. They brought in 200 or more Japs who had been hiding out since the first of April when the Marines landed. I expect to hear that Ted is in North China with the First Marine Division. They landed October Ist, according to reports, and there is no reason why my very special Marine wouldn't go in with them. Kay Harbough."

....At 511 Aldine St., Chicago 13,Ill..... A clipping from Herb Knowles' wife announcing his promotion from captain to major in AAF Weather Service at Ashville, N. C., where his assignment has been that of Budget and Fiscal Officer of the Weather Service. Herb recently spent some time in the Advanced Fiscal School at Ft. Benjamin Harrison in India. Said wife, by the by, is a new recruit, having been Miss Berncye M. LaCour of New Orleans until 4 February last.

In Springfield, Vermont an account of Sgt. Doug Hamilton's activities: "He has been awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in leading his armored column from Alsace through the Seigfried line. He wears the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal and has two battle stars on his campaign ribbon. He is the Co-Author o£ the Combat history o£ Company C, 25th Tank Battalion, 14th Armored Division, of which he is a member.

FROM THE BOYS THEMSELVES ... .At 6 Pearl Street, Randolph, Vt., Ken Webster, who is one half of the L. W. Webster Co. to judge from the letter head, reports: "No hot news but will bring you up to date on my family: Ann Elizabeth born April 14, 1940; Stephen Winfield born December 9, 1943; and Camela Lucille born July 15, 1945.

"I spent the war at home helping run our sawmill and bobbin plant. Hope you have some good news on a bang-up '35 Reunion before long." ....In Janesville, Wise "Home again on terminal leave prior to receipt of the 'little white paper' on 2 January when I shall be officially a civilian again. Europe and the ETO proved very different from my experiences in the S.P. and despite much hard work there were moments of pleasure. The last two months abroad were most interesting in my job as Surgeon to the Ministerial Collection Center south of Kassel where all the documents of the German Government are being collected under supervision of Allied experts. Anything can be salvaged from that mess will come out of those offices and it was fun being in on the ground floor.

"Ended my ETO career in a C-54 flying from Paris and arriving in Washington 28 September, and now civilization and the old tweeds once more! 225 Milton Avenue, Janesville, Wisconsin, is again open after four and one-half years of roaming and I hope all '3sers in the area will surely drop in for as long as they can stay. Regards, Frank Van Kirk." .... At 243 Chatham St., Lynn, Mass......

"Just got discharged from the Coast Guard after three and one-half years. Expect to go back to work for Veterans Admin, in Washington, D. C. Had been on a DE for the past two and one-half years, in the North Atlantic. Married a year ago to Helena Dierniak of Alexandria, Va. Best of luck to you. R. Hannoosh." .....At the Lake Shore Club of Chicago, Ill.

"This will report my transfer on October 1 from Detroit to-Chicago. My new address—pending the labor pains of finding a house, and only God knows if I can give birth to that—is: Cadillac Motor Car Div., 2250 So. Michigan Ave. My new job is Sales Promotion Manager for our Chicago Branch. At this early stage in the game I feel very much like the guy who went off the high board without knowing how deep the water is below. Let's hope its a shallow dive and not a belly flop. Al Tacy."

RELIEVED FROM ACTIVE DUTY, Marine Lt. Milburn McCarfy Jr. '35 has joined Douglas Leigh, Inc., New York advertising firm, as vice president. He has been a Marine combat correspondent in the Pacific for three years, and has covered the battles of Bougainville, Peleliu, the Philippine campaign and Okinawa.
