This is the first column I've written since leaving Hanover and it seems rather queer and throat-lumping to think that this is not just a two-week interim between terms. The number of '46s in Hanover, despite the leaving of many who were lucky to remain during the war, is growing, though, and from a recent report we learn that the total number of returned vet '46s to Hanover is about 30. As yet we don't know who they all are, but the civilian enrollment is now about 700 and growing rapidly.

It seems natural that one should run into Dartmouth men at Big Green events and games, and at Syracuse we talked to Roy Jerman, who after spending much time in a German prison camp is now recuperating at Lake Placid and planning a return to Hanover in March. At Yale, among others, we saw A.A.F. Lt. Bob Leslie (home after many E.T.O. missions and soon to be discharged), Austie Chin,Al Belinkie, Don Fitzsimmons, Jack Rankin,Don Hutchinson, Hugh MacNam.ee and wife, Craig Bedle (who got out last spring and is back in Hanover by now), Joe Davenport (working in a brokerage on Wall St.), and SlimBrewer. "Shipwreck" Kelly (lieutenant in the Air Corps) is out and should be in Hanover by the time this reaches you Hank Kent has been missing since last summer in a raid over Luzon, but we're still hoping Second Lieutenant John McClinton has been discharged from the A.A.F. after three years service and should be in Hanover soon JackEmery is working for National Air Lines at La Guardia Field and is living in Jackson Hts., Long Island Harold "Tim" Marden is at Cornell Med School in New York City (his younger brother is in Hanover as a '49) Tom Blake, Bill Brown and Joe Hoagland are all back in the States although we don't know whether they are out or what they are doing. .... Larry Kidder is in his third year at Ann apolis Dick Scharrer is a radioman on a B-29 and should now be some where in Europe: he was last stationed at Greensboro, N. C Ensign Bill Graulty was in Hanover just before we left and waiting on ship repairs in Boston after much sea duty as a demolition officer Chan Bowen, Bob Kimball and Jim Kennedy are trying to keep '46 alive in Hanover by rooming off-campus with several other vets..... Hats Off to: Sgt. Bob "Red" Omstanley who has been awarded the Bronze Star for heroic action in Germany. to: Bob Sandoe of the Marine Air Corps, who has received the Air Medal for 300 hours in the Air over enemy installations in the So. Pacific area. to: Donn Githens (aviation radioman, 2nd class), who has been awarded the Gold Star in lieu of his third Air Medal for combat sorties over Okinawa and the Jap homeland. Nice going, boys!

John Wolfe is seemingly, connected with the C. P. Lazarus Co. in San Francisco but we don't know if he's still in Honolulu or not. .... Saw Manuel Soto in town before leaving and at that time he was planning on entering Harvard Law School in November GeneBokor is still attached to the 488th Engineers but recently was picked to attend an American G.I. University at Shrivenham, England—Congrats Gene Ensign Dave Weld dropped me a nice letter from Tokyo where he's a Communications officer and had been at Kwajalein, Eniwetok and Yokosuka. He mentioned seeing among others Ensigns Hank Stern and Bob Kenzell and '45's Rick Lewis and Jim Brokerick. Dave told us that Jack "Surly" Underbill is back in the States (he was with an underwater Demolition Team) and that DickMorse was on a D.E. being converted for Pacific duty when last heard from Ray Berry after being fortunate enough to stay in Hanover and get his A.B. has now told us his draft board is "hot after him" and he soon expects to be in khaki Dick Price is spending several months in Hanover prior to entering U. of Michigan Law School.... We were incorrect in our October issue when we told you Don Williams had graduated. He has one more term and won't get the sheepskin until March Rayner Johnson is in N.R.O.T.C. at Yale, so we are told DuneGitson captained and starred for the Civilian team in an All-College Swimming Meet earlier this fall Milt Fromson tells us that HalBowman is in the South Pacific and headed for Tokyo Among those attending a Dartmouth Alumni meeting in Hawaii were '46's Bob Brusing, John Barker, and Dick Kerwin.. ... Brade Morehouse from latest reports is fighting his way across Germany and so far without a "scratch."

Engagements Announced—the boys have been busy in the "Ring League" too—they are: Pete Millard (recently commissioned an Ensign in the Navy) and Margaret Leathers of Jacksonville, Fla., and Bennett Jr. College, Ensign Ed Brunhoff and Wave Martha Palmer of Sterling, Colo., and U. of Nebr., ("Bruno" is a pilot in the Naval Air Corps); Harlan Brum-sted and Evelyn Call of Batavia, N. Y., and Cornell—Harlan's still in the Pacific as far as we know.

John Rockwell, 13 School St., Hanover, takes over the Class Notes from this point as acting secretary.

That's all for this month—see ya....
