AFTER A THOROUGH review of the many factors that will influence reunions in 1946, the recently appointed Hanover Committee for Reunions has arranged a tentative 1946 Reunion program for all classes that have missed regular reunions since 1945, as well as for those classes that would normally hold reunions in 1946.
For the present, the reunion schedule must be considered as tentative and as predicated on the assumption that there will be sufficient housing and eating facilities for the large groups that are expected to return to Hanover. Recent word from the Navy Department states that the Navy does not anticipate at this time any need for the facilities of the College during the summer term for the NROTC program. However, a portion of the College facilities must be reserved for students during the summer, and for this reason, reunions must be conducted over several weekends.
With an anticipated enrollment for the March-June term approaching that of the normal pre-war college, reunions, save for those of the Fifty-Year class, and the 55th and 60th Reunions, must be scheduled after the close of the spring semester on June 25. 1893 and 1896 will meet for their Fiftieth Reunions on the weekend of June 7-8, at which time the Trustees and Alumni Council will hold their regular meetings. On this same week-end, the Class Officers Associations—Secretaries, Treasurers, and Class Agents—will meet for the first time in two years.
Classes planning to meet for their 55th or 60th Reunions will be able to schedule their reunions during May and June.
As far as possible reunions will follow the normal pre-war procedure. Dormitories will be assigned by classes. Guests of alumni will be included in class attendance. A general schedule of events will soon be released for the regular reunion events, including President's Reception, class banquets, class picnics, athletic events, and class dances. Individual class events can be then scheduled to fit this general program.
The general reunion schedule proposes to bring back to Hanover on the same weekend classes of the same college generation—the three classes that have missed reunions together with the class due for a reunion in 1946. Save for the weekend of June 28-29, when the 25th Reunion group—1918, 1919, 1920, and 1921—will meet during the 1946 Commencement weekend, each weekend in July will bring together two reuning groups.
In addition plans are now under way to hold a Homecoming Weekend on August 2-3 for the classes of 1942 to 1948 and for Navy alumni. The majority of these classes are or have been in military service and complete plans for their home- coming will soon be released to them. A second weekend for Homecoming will be set aside if necessary.
Recent meetings of Class Secretaries and Reunion Chairmen were held in Boston and New York. At these meetings, Donald W. Cameron '35, Chairman of the Hanover Reunion Committee, discussed the proposed reunion schedule. Class notes will carry information on individual class programs.
