Whoever assumes the secretary's work in Dartmouth's older classes does so knowing that the task must be undertaken from loyalty to the College, and with full realization of the depleted ranks. His notes can no longer reflect dynamic activities in world affairs. During nearly fifty-seven years since graduation the class of '88 has had but three secretaries; Forbush serving thirty-nine years, Pattee for six more, and Cate following their faithful work for twelve years. The class is fortunate in having Wendell Williams assume the duties of class agent. The death of Eleazar Cate is a personal loss shared by us all.

Keay has our sympathy in the death of his wife, Mrs. Lillian Quimby Keay, November 12, 1944. Needless to say every care was given her during a long illness. She attended many of our reunions, and endeared herself to the classmates and wives, who enjoyed those choice meetings. Besides her husband a niece survives her.

It was a pleasure to greet the family of Harlow '88 recently. Mrs. Harlow, still firm in the old, high ideals, now wields them to the fourth generation. Her son, Harold C., Dartmouth '15, holds a responsible position with the General Electric Cos. at Lynn. Carl, the younger son, is with the Railway Express Cos. Harold C. Jr., after three years in Dartmouth '42, was taken into the Army, trained a year at Yale in the Malayan language, and is now in China. He married Elizabeth S. Harlow (Mt. Holyoke '42) daughter of Prof. S. Ralph Harlow of Smith College, and their young daughter is named Linda Carol. Althea Harlow, sister of Harold C. Jr., is employed at the Woolworth General Offices in Boston.

A reprint from the South Atlantic Quarterly entitled, "The Soul of Florida," written by Fred Lewis Pattee, has been read with great interest. Our good classmate from the cold, white hills of Bristol, N. H„ has been taken over by Florida, lock, stock and barrel. His evaluation of the State is expressed with all the fervor and classic English of one who has had a P.G. course in California appreciation.
