SS Dartmouth Launched

THE SS DARTMOUTH VICTORY went down the ways on Feb. 15 at the Oregon Shipbuilding Corporation yard in Portland, Oregon. The new Victory cargo vessel was christened in an impressive ceremony which was attended by John A. Laing 'O5 of Portland and a group of Dartmouth alumni from that city, Seattle, and Tacoma as representatives of the College. A greeting from President Hopkins was read at the launching.

Dartmouth was one of forty American institutions of higher learning honored by having their names given to the new Victory craft.
