The Houston Press of March 30 has a long account of a dinner given in honor of H. M. Lull's impending retirement from the office of executive vice president of Southern Pacific's Texas and New Orleans Railroad Cos. It is much too long to reproduce in the class notes, but the substance of it is that there were about five hundred present; that compliments were showered on him by A. T. Mercier of San Francisco, Southern Pacific president; H. W. Harper, general chairman of the Brotherhood of Railway Clerks, and representing all S. P. brotherhoods; S. G. Reed, retired freight traffic manager; E. A. Craft, who will, as Lull's choice, replace him; Daniel Upthegrove of St. Louis, chief executive of the Cotton Belt Line; R. W. Barnes, S. P. chief engineer; Sam Forman representing S. P.'s American Legion post members; and Otis Massey, mayor of Houston. President Merrier praised the "great team work" of the Texas-Louisiana lines with the rest of the Southern Pacific system; Mr. Harper praised the "good, clean and wholesome relations between management and manpower under Lull;" Mayor Massey praised him in such civic activities as the Community Chest, Chamber of Commerce, Red Cross and many others; and Mr. Upthegrove praised him for the "steady mind" he showed in railroad consultations. The article adds:

"The tall, dry-witted, 70-year-old native of Vermont, who has been a leader in Houston affairs since 1920, took the encomiums in stride, but his eyes glistened with interest and pride at the golf set."

Merrill Boyd's son Mitchell is engaged to Miss Dora Lee Trevorrow of Cheyenne, Wyo. Miss Trevorrow was graduated from Colorado Women's College and the University of Denver.
