Professor Nathaniel G. Burleigh, longtime secretary of the class of 1911, who returned to Tuck School this term, was given an impressive send-off when he left Washington and the War Production Board on June 12 after four years in the capital with the OPM and WPB. Members of the Office Equipment Industry honored Professor Burleigh with a dinner at the Harvard Club, New York, which was attended by several noted industrial leaders. At the head table as speakers for the occasion were Thomas J. Watson, president, International Business Machines Corp.; Colonel E. A. Deeds, chairman of the board, National Cash Register; S. C. Allyn, president, National Cash Register; Philip" B. Wagoner, chairman of the board, Underwood; Leon C. Stowell, president, Underwood; and W. H. Wheeler Jr., president, Pitney-Bowes.

They expressed the appreciation of the entire Office Equipment Industry for Professor Burleigh's "many months of sincere and conscientious effort, which contributed materially to the welfare of the nation in time of war."

At the dinner Professor Burleigh was presented with a handsome platinum watch, chain, and knife. The inscription on the watch read that it was presented "in recognition of his able administration and his contribution to the war as a member of the War Production Board."

Professor Burleigh was Director of the Service Equipment Division when he left the War Production Board on June 1 and held the record for the longest service of any division chief in this branch of government.
