IT WAS WITH GREAT PLEASURE that we had as our guest and Hanover representative at our annual dinner on March 30, Dean L. K. Neidlinger. His talk about the wartime college, civilian activities and what progress is being made, future prospects, and plans for handling students as they are released from the Armed Forces were all interesting and illuminating. About 45 were present,, including a few from out of town, who managed to overcome travel difficulties.

Officers for the coming year were elected, as follows: Charley Goodrich '05 (he insists also that Thayer '06 be added), was elected president. Vice presidents are Blair Rainey '36, Fred Ingram '29, and Gus Cummings '27. Shep Patterson '24 and the undersigned were "drafted" to continue as treasurer and secretary.

We were all sorry to hear in May that Karl Maerker '10 had been working a little too hard, and was forced to spend a few days in the hospital and take a number of weeks rest at home; However, Jack Fox '12 reports that he is coming along well and with some rest and reduction of waist-line will soon be back with us at our Wednesday lunches (plug). We likewise commiserate with Bill Lang '33, former president, in coming up with a third daughter. He is now tied with Shep Patterson and Fred Babcock '36, who were charter members of the 3-daughter club.

Our annual picnic was held in Mt. Lebanon on Saturday, June 30, at the apartment of President Charley Goodrich, who was a genial host, and had a mammoth ice-box with beer bottles stacked up like cordwood. After a few scuttles of suds the boys adjourned to the high school baseball field, where after a fine start we lost to a group of high school boys in the late innings, due to the vicissitudes of age. Present were Charley Goodrich '05, Bill Eaton '17, Dick Barton '21, Lieut. Commander Haubrich M' 23 (whom we welcome to our midst), Shep Patterson '24, Nate Parker '26, Joe Egolf '25, Bill Lang '33, Bob McConnaughey '38, George Stewart '45, Roger Donner-'31, and Dick Husband '26. Following a sandwich supper, bridge and poker reigned until around midnight, when the boys felt compelled to adjourn until some, fine Saturday in June of next year.
