As a gift from the Class of 1904, the above oil portrait of Dean William R. Gray '04 has been presented to the Tuck School and now hangs in the main hall of the business school which he headed for nearly two decades. It was painted, from a photograph, by Gordon R. Ham of Provincetown, and was initiated some years ago by Prof. Herman Feldman of Tuck School, from whom the Class of 1904 acquired it for presentation to the College.

Dean Gray, who died on March 31, *937> was head of the Tuck School from 1919 until his death. He joined the faculty in 1905, the year in which he received his M.C.S. from the business school, and gave life-long service to Dartmouth. Dean Gray was a Life Trustee of the College and on numerous occasions when President Hopkins was away he was acting head of the College. He was also a leader in Hanover community affairs, serving as president of the Mary Hitchcock Hospital, member of the Hanover Improvement Society, and vestryman of St. Thomas Church.
