Dartmouth Night
December 1946

THE COLLEGE'S traditional Dartmouth Night was held this year on October 25, the night preceding the Big Green's second home game with Columbia. President John Sloan Dickey spoke to the huge pre-game rally crowd from the steps of Dartmouth Hall, explained the origin of Dartmouth Night and said that the spirit of Dartmouth is best expressed in its songs, songs such as no other college has had the good fortune to have.

Congratulatory messages from the farflung Dartmouth Alumni Associations from all over the United States, Canada and abroad were read by the Secretary of the College, Sidney C. Hayward '26. Clubs sending messages were the Dartmouth Clubs of: Baltimore, Berkshire County, Boston, Central New Jersey, Central Ohio, Central Pennsylvania, Chicago, Cleveland, Detroit, Eastern New York, Eastern Pennsylvania, France, Georgia, Houston, Indianapolis, Louisiana, Lowell, Maine, Manchester, N. H., Melrose, Naugatuck Valley, New York, North Shore of Massachusetts, Northern California and Nevada, Northern New Jersey, the Northwest, Oklahoma, Oregon, Philadelphia, Quebec, San Diego, Southern California, Utica, Virginia, Washington, Western Michigan, Western New York, Wisconsin, Worcester County and Youngstown.
