He Got Around

To THE EDITOR: Since Adams '09 and Gibson '24 have adopted Zephaniah Swift, 1792, they may wish to join in a Wah-Hoo Wah for Rev. Zephaniah Swift Moore, D.D., Dartmouth College 1793 and professor of languages 1811-1815, who resigned the presidency of Williams College to become the first president of Amherst College. There was a boy who got around!

New Hampshire s Hills

To THE EDITOR: Much has been written in praise of New Hampshire, "Land of Scenic Splendor," fashioned in rare beauty by the Creator in that far distant time when, according to the Scriptures, "He measured the earth, and the eternal mountains were scattered and the everlasting hills did bow."

Can the oldest native son tell us how old are the hills of New Hampshire? The effort to answer this question as to their prehistoric formation staggers the imagination, for even the wisest man of his day was speechless before the query in the ancient Book of Job, "Wast Thou brought forth before the hills?"

The hills of New Hampshire are increasingly loved and appreciated by those who live here or visit the state—because of their natural beauty and rugged strength, seen in the foreground or in distant perspective!

Lifting our eyes to these hills, we perceive with that inner vision not only the eternal values in the passing panorama of events, but we have revealed to us the deeper meaning of the historic past and the far-flung future! We perceive "the precious things of the everlasting hills," and from this experience we receive new strength!
