Wilder Dam
To the Editor: I read with interest "A River Campus" in the June issue of the Dartmouth ALUMNIMAGAZINE and immediately recalled pictures of the Wilder Dam snapped on one of my frequent hikes during my undergraduate days (see cut below).
Possibly they may be of interest in making a comparison of the dam today with its apperance 35 years ago when these "snaps" were made.

EDITOR'S NOTE: When our June article was prepared it was assumed that with the sanction of the Federal Power Commission the proposed new dam at Wilder was all set. During the summer, however, there has been considerable commotion in the Connecticut Valley, with renewed opposition to the raising of the river level and with Senators and Congressmen on both sides of the river belatedly entering the fray and proposing Congressional action to rescind the decision of the Federal Power Commission as to the height of the dam. Meanwhile, the dam site is being cleared for building operations, which are scheduled to start as soon as the ice goes out of the river next spring.
