PROFESSOR JOHN HURD '21, our associate editor, has toiled mightily for this issue of the ALUMNI MAGAZINE. His is the sprightly and authoritative editorial on skiing, Pages 11-12, and also his is this month's lead feature, Men vs. Microscopes, starting on Page 13.
The latter article, in the form of a profileinterview with John C. Woodhouse '21, research director for Du Pont, presents the case for the liberal arts college as the basic training ground for future scientists. As one of the country's most distinguished and productive scientists, Dr. Woodhouse backs up his views on this topic with uncommon authority and practical experience.
The 20th anniversary of the Hitchcock Clinic, Hanover's increasingly famous medical group, is the occasion for telling something about its history and its present staff, made up largely of Dartmouth doctors. Alice Pollard is the author of Hanover's Noted Clinic, to be found on Page 17.
A pictorial feature on Dartmouth's NROTC Unit is presented on Pages 20-21 and is the photographic accomplishment of Adrian Bouchard, staff photographer.
