THE officers and executive board of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Long Island have been extremely busy since before Christmas working up plans and programs to make the club a true rallying point for all alumni in the Long Island area.

A dinner meeting March 4 at the Hempstead Elks Club inaugurates the 1947 schedule for the Islanders. Prof. Stearns Morse, Dean of Freshmen, comes down from Hanover to address the group, and Elwood Doyle '36, chairman of the entertainment committee, has arranged for a delicious rib roast dinner to be served at a very modest charge.

Elwood and his committee are meanwhile doing the rounds of the local country clubs, hotels, etc., to locate a spot for the gala spring dance to be held late in April. They are also auditioning orchestras to assure the best in musical entertainment for the occasion.

As outlined in the letter from President E. Carll Buhler '30 to all Long Island alumni, the club also plans to have a super beer party outing during the summer, a fitting celebration of Dartmouth Night, and a general business meeting as the year's finale. If you presently reside anywhere on Long Island, from Brooklyn to Montauk, and didn't receive Carll's epistle, will you send your name and address to Jack Coulson '39, secretary, at 129 Grand Avenue, Freeport.

This five-point program was set up at a meeting of the officers in December and passed by the executive board January 16 at a meeting held at the home oF Chairman Ed Warnke '18. The Board met again February 20 to further discuss plans for the April dance and complete arrangements for the March 4th dinner.

Mel Katz '33 and his Membership Committee have been devoting considerable time to bringing the mailing list up-to-date, and JohnWolff '32 and Ralph Martin '36 did a great job in getting out the first mailing piece.

Wally Rushmore '32 has accepted the post of Auditor to serve on the Finance Committee with Guy Bostwick '27 and Frank Rath '30, which brings to mind the fact that the first letter brought a gratifying response in the matter of dues payments. It is hoped that all the old Greens hereabouts will be sending their buck through pronto to help the club meet its modest running expenses.

RICHARD COBURN '16

The Dartmouth Alumni Association of Long Island has lost a sincere friend and a devoted member with the sudden passing of Dick Coburn.

An active member since this Association was founded, Dick served as a member of the Executive Board for several years. He had been reelected to the Board at the last election and was present at the January 16th meeting of the Board.
