All-Star Coach
June 1947

For the first postwar revival of the New York Herald Tribune Fresh Air Fund All-Star Game between the top Eastern collegiate football players and the Eastern pro football winners of last season, the New York Giants, DeOrmond (Tuss) McLaughry, Big Green head coach, has been named as coach of the collegians.

This selection will mark the third time that McLaughry has coached an all-star eleven against the play-for-pay boys, and, to date, his record is a spotless one. In 1940, while still at Brown, Tuss became the first man to beat the pros with a college outfit, as his team downed the Giants, 16-7. Last year he was the defensive coach of the All-Star eleven which downed the Los Angeles Rams, world's champions, 16-0.

For the game, which will be played in the Polo Grounds on September 3, Tuss will have as aides Army's backfield coach, Andy Gustafson, and Johnny Dell Isola, Big Green line coach.
