The pleasure and enjoyment '18ers are getting out of many class gatherings throughout the country has resulted in the largest number of dues payers ever. If you haven't sent your check to Stumpie (D. L.) Barr, Hanover, for your class dues of $5 a year or $22.75 for the 5 years to the next reunion, won't you please do so?

Class Dinners at the Dartmouth Club, N. Y. C., on Thursday, Jan. 13 and Thursday, Feb. 17. At the Penn Game. Mary and Paul Erwin and Pixie and Tom Bryant were there. Later Paul spent a couple of glorious days with young Paul at Hanover and following that, Mary and Paul had a nice visit with son Bob at Washington and Lee. Shorty Alden who has been seeing many of the games by television, sent us the play by play chart he made up of the Penn game. At the Holy CrossGame: Loyal news scout AI Gottschaldt reported seeing Louise and Stew Burns and their 2 sons, also Don Davis; the O. S. S. F.Du Sossoit Duke and Ellen; Ethel andStumpie Barr (Pete Colwell says the Barr residence has a new addition and is all painted up spiffy); Doc Joe Quincy, daughter Shirley and Papa Phil Sanderson; HermWhitemore, daughter Ruthie and Jake Bingham; Beckie and AI Gottschaldt, Mary andTommy O'Connell and the whole distinguished family. Wrote Freddie Cassebeer after that week-end "highlight of our trip through New England was the grand cocktail party given us by Prof, and Mrs. Ed Boothf at which Ethel and Stumpie Barr, Rolf Syvertsen and Cotty and Kitty Larmon were present. Found Dartmouth still steeped in idealism." (Isn't that the place for it, Fred?).... ColgateGame: Helen and Paul Miner were present, also Evie and Pete Colwell, Jedge AmosBlandin and daughter Joan and Jake Bmgham and no doubt others.

At the Harvard Game: yes, Helen and PaulMiner were there, and, says Paul, in part," .... I don't want to miss this experience again; will try to make it every year .... had a lovely cocktail party at the Commander Hotel, followed by a mammoth affair at the Copley Plaza with tables for all classes. Tom Groves says he has read all about Fritz Cassebeer and wants to know if Fritz has the audacity to challenge him. Enjoyed seeing Catherineand Doc Angell Reed Montgomery says he hasn't missed a Yale game in over 20 yrs. but couldn't make it this year and was heartbroken." Bill Christgau was looking forward to seeing son Bill, but he was busy with the rushing Committee at Hanover for the Kappa Sigs.

At the Yale Game: Dick Holton, as always a delightful host, offered a nip to anyone; also there were Marjorie and Phil Boynton; Miriam Morrison, Anne and Johnny Johnston,Agnes and Judge Harry Collins (Harry is doing a splendid job on Gov. Dewey's N. Y. State Comm. of the mentally ill with 8 eminent psychologists), Janet and Van VanRaalte, Bill Christgau, Steve Mahoney in his colorful blazer and silver thatched hair, Peggyand King Rood, Red Hulbert and son Dick (Dick averaged last year 3.1 and we understand 3.2 is Phi Beta Kappa—we're banking on you to make it Dick), Pat and George Stoddard and Ellen and Belgian Tulip King, DuSossoit Duke. At the '18 class dinner, night before, at the N. Y. C. Dart. Club were MartyStraus, who's made the name Eversharp a byword in every home, Van Van Raalte, whose Thompson-Starrett Co. Also present was National City Bank's expert credit man NedRoss, and what a news scout he is! A very enjoyable discussion was held afterward, in which the writer, Red Wilson (well-knownin-Wall St. syndicate mgr. and V. P. of Union Securities Corp.), Rog Howland, Red Hulbert, and Gerry Geran participated. Gerry is doing a lot of reading and a lot of thinking, and others have often said that discussion groups after these class meetings would be a very enjoyable and instructive affair. Said Gerry, "Bennie Mugridge goes up to Harvard frequently and speaks and I'd like very much to listen to Bennie sometime in a discussion; just for example." Rog Howland and Red Hulbert offered some very interesting ideas for discussion. Red Wilson inquired about Les Granger and Walt Nelson and wished they had been present.

Steaming to the Yale game in a gorgeous new Buick were Minetta and Syl Morey with son Clayton at the wheel and Stanley Jones listening to the back seat driving. The class extends sympathy to Hal Glendenning on the loss of his wife on Oct. 29 Elizabeth andDave Skinner enjoyed a month's vacation last summer at Fishers Island. '18's smooth looking Lyman Drake, famed Critchell-Miller Ins. Agency in Chicago, had his picture in the paper of the Rockford, 111. Dusty Rhodes of the Drama Dept. of the Journal of Commerce remarked how delightful it was at Pomonok to see Pixie and TomBryant, Hort Chandler and Scotty Whipple Thelma and Jack Slabaugh, who always drive a green car with a 1918 license plate, and who always celebrate their anniversary on Oct. 3 by a trip to Hanover, had a joint celebration this year on October 3 of their 25th and also the announcement of the engagement of Thelma Jr. to Bill Osgood, New Hampshire '51. .... Dave Skinner was delighted to report that Lewis Lee left the hospital and is now at home and doing fine Said Dave, "the damdest things do happen—my son at Hanover went Alpha Delt and I told him they were no good when we were there with such men as Er Young, Jay LeFevre and Dick Aishton."Fat Sheldon was hoping soon to stop in and see Ted and Cliff Meredith and Cliff on a recent postcard, said ". ... am still kicking and doing fine." From good old Ev Young "sorry I cannot accept your invitation because Katherine is judging the Susquehanna Kennel Club show at Sunbury, Pa. and as the 'kennel boy" I'm going along." Stan Jones and the writer enjoyed seeing Mildred and Congressman Jay Le Fevre, whose counties are strongly behind him (Henry MadisonCameron is up for election next year but his constituents also are solidly behind him) and the only thing that troubles Jay are a few pockets of Commies scattered through the Catskills Winifred and Spike Puryear had a wonderful motor trip down through the Carolina Mountains and Spike is now hitting on all 8 again An unsigned postcard says: "You louse! You carry out any 'Social Amenities' with my wife and I'll carve my initials in those Gladstone bags under your eyes. Get a haircut before I see you again —you and your yellow shirt fluter." . . . . And from Herm Whitmore "no news, but just want you to know (and Red Jones) how much I enjoy the '18 column." (Thanks, Herm.)

From Ray Smith, Arlington, Va., "no luck at all these days—was away in Europe during the reunion- and missed out on Dartmouth Night, but expect to be at the Princeton game and hope to see other '18ers."....
