THREE SENIORS AND THREE ALUMNI were awarded fellowships last month for graduate study during the coming academic year. The three seniors were Allan J. McCurry '48 of Holyoke, Mass.; Wilcomb E. Washburn '48 of Hanover; and Charles A. Yardley '49 of Philadelphia, Pa., all of whom will complete the undergraduate course in June. The three alumni were Russell A. Fraser '47 of Harvardevens Village, Fort Devens, Mass.; Stanford L. Luce Jr. '45 of Branford, Conn., and Richard E. Welch Jr. '45 of Newburyport, Mass.

Recipient of the Henry Elijah Parker Fellowship, McCurry plans to study hist ory next year. A graduate of Holyoke High School, he was a member of the Navy's V-ia unit at Dartmouth during the war and later served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

A graduate of Phillips Exeter Academy, Washburn was awarded the Charles O. Miller Jr. Memorial Fellowship, which he will use for the study of American civilization at Harvard. He returned to the College last fall following Army occupation duty in Japan. He is the son of Prof. Harold E. Washburn '10. A graduate of Lower Merion School, Ardmore, Pa., Yardley received the James B. Richardson Fellowship for the graduate study of mathematics.

A former resident of Rockville Center, N. Y., Fraser was awarded the Richard Crawford Campbell Jr. Fellowship to continue his study of English at Harvard. An alumnus of St. John's Prep, he served two years in the Navy during the war. He received his A.B. degree last June.

A graduate student at Yale, Luce received a reappointment to the Fred DeMerritte Barker Fellowship for the study of French at the University of Montpellier, France. A Rufus Choate Scholar, he also received his A.B. degree last June. He is a graduate of Phillips Andover Academy and served in the Army during the war.

Awarded the George E. Chamberlin Fellowship for the study of history at Harvard, Welch is a graduate of Newburyport High School, a member of Phi Beta Kappa and served 45 months in the Army during the war. He completed his undergraduate course last month.
