FOR ITS LEAD ARTICLE THIS MONTH THE ALUMNI MAGAZINE again presents one of the outstanding lectures given in the Great Issues Course. The Meaning of Tolerance was delivered before the senior class in March by Dr. W. K. Jordan, President of Radcliffe College and one of the country's eminent historians.
"The tolerant man is also the free man." Dr. Jordan told his student and faculty audience, asserting that this fact is the greatest resource underlying a liberal society. The full text of his talk starts on Page 13. Appearing with this text is the recently announced schedule for the sixth and final section of the course.
Two shorter features this month are Fostering a World View (Page 20), an article by Assistant Editor Elmer Stevens '43 on the first two years of the new divisional major in international relations; and "Pest House" Days by Alice Pollard (Page 21), a not-too-serious reminder of the old Isolation Hospital which is nothing but a memory today.
