THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES at its meeting April 9 approved the appointment of a new instructor in the Great Issues course and four seniors as Teaching Fellows for the academic year 1948-49.

John H. Halpin Jr. '47 of Washington, D. C., has been named to succeed A. Alexander Fanelli '42 as instructor in the Great Issues course. Appointed Teaching Fellows in Chemistry were E. John Alexander '45 of St. Albans, Vt.; Allan W. McK.ee Jr. '48 of West Hartford, Conn.; and Donald F. Page '47 of Hanover. Joseph I. Masters '48 of Brookline, Mass. was named a Teaching Fellow in Physics.

A former resident of Upper Montclair, N. J., Halpin is on the staff of the National Institute of Public Affairs. Following his graduation from Dartmouth in February 1947, he was research assistant at Kansas University. He served in the Marine Corps during the war.

Alexander is a graduate of Bellows Free Academy, St. Albans, and was a member of the Navy hospital corps during the war. He was stationed on Guam and later served aboard the U.S.S. Missouri.

A graduate of Hartford Public High School, McK.ee came to Dartmouth in March 1944 as a member of the Navy's V-12 unit. He later served with the Seventh Fleet in the Asiatic Theater and returned to Dartmouth after being placed on inactive duty as an ensign.

Page is a graduate of Hanover High School and the son of Prof. Frederick S. Page '13. During the war he took part in the Rhineland and Central European campaigns as a member of a tank destroyer battalion.

A naval ensign during the war, Masters prepared for college at Brookline High School. He was a member of the V-12 unit at Dartmouth and later served in the Asiatic Theater.
