THE DARTMOUTH CLUB of Washington has had a busy program this spring. The high spot of this program was our Annual Spring Dinner which was held at the Hamilton Hotel on the evening of April 7th. Karl M. Dollak '35 was the capable chairman of this very successful affair which gave us an opportunity to hear a fine talk on the College by Dean Neidlinger. Our quartet of Chuck Grant '39, Joe Huber '40, Brad Cole '43, and Mickey Beall was in excellent voice, and "Hanover—1947" is certainly one of the best movies that the College film service has turned out.
About ninety men turned out for the dinner. Among those present were Henry P. Blair '89, John L. Sullivan '21, Lt. Gen. W. Stewart Paul '16, George M. Morris '11, Judge Clarence V. Opper '18, Nelson Smith '21, and Frederick L. Pearce '15. We were very glad that our old friend, and new member of the Alumni Council, George Parkhurst '30, could come over from Baltimore and be with us.
Unfortunately, Warren Kendall '99 and Billy Wallis '94, two of our faithful "Regulars," were both under the weather and hence were unable to attend. We extend to both Warren and Billy our best wishes for a speedy recovery.
The Bowling Team made history this year by hot winning the championship of the Intercollegiate League for a change. The boys have been doing their best but they have been plagued by illness and job transfers. The first blow was the transfer of anchor man Page Worthington '33 to West Virginia. Then Uncle Sam sent Bill Shaughnessy '33 on an extended European trip. Captain Marty Brand '26 then proceeded to get sick, and Henry Broadbent '37 strained his side. The survivors, Bill Yelverton '36, Joe Fanelli '32, John Pendleton '15, and Ed Mecutchen '31 have been doing their best to overcome these setbacks.
Percy H. Russell Jr. '29 can relax a little from his many Dartmouth activities as he has just finished another excellent job of directing the interviewing of the prospective Dartmouth undergraduates. George M. Morris '11, on the other hand, is really getting under way on the Hopkins Center campaign.
