At our last tiffin meeting, Lin-Yi Ho '11, senior alumnus in Shanghai, was elected president of the Dartmouth Club of China, and Lester K. Little '14, who has done a fine job over the past several years in keeping in touch with local Dartmouth men, was named vice president.

On May 3, we had a wonderful get-together at the home of L. K. Little. The guests of honor were Bob Ripley, who received an honorary degree from Dartmouth in 1939, and six other members of his party, including Doug Storer '21 and Mrs. Storer. Practically all of the Shanghai alumni were present with their wives. After cocktails and a delicious buffet dinner, the conversation naturally went back to Hanover and it was a bit hard to believe when "we came to" that we were so far away from Hanover.

On May 23, Mr. and Mrs. Ho entertained the alumni and their families at a delightful Chinese feast in the most beautiful garden the secretary has ever seen- since he came to the Orient. This pleasant occasion was recorded photographically by Francis Pan '26.

Mel Southuiick 'lB left early in June for a five-months' furlough in the States. He regretted that he would not arrive in time to attend his class reunion, but he hopes to get to Hanover sometime during the summer before his return here in November.

We plan one more tiffin meeting in June and then, other than for an occasional informal gathering, we will not meet again until September.

At the last meeting everyone agreed that it would be very much in order if 100 per cent of our group would contribute to this year's Alumni Fund. Each one agreed that he would personally see to his contribution, and I hope this will be done in time.

ALL OUT IN HONOR OF "BELIEVE OR NOT" RIPLEY: The Dartmouth Club of China gathered at the home of L. K. Little on May 3 to meet Robert Ripley. Those present were, left to right, standing, M. L. Southwick 'lB, Francis K. C. Pan '26, L. Y. Ho 'll, J. M. Faulkner '4O, S. Y. Wang '44, C. P. Gilson '2l, Bob Ripley, L. K. Little 'l4, D. F. Storer '2l, Mr. Shippee (L. K. Little's son-in-law), H. Huang 'lB, C. P. Gilson Jr., Ed Dunham (member of Ripley party), and Ed McMillan (also a member of Ripley's party); seated, Mrs Pan, Mrs. Gilson, Ripley's American secretary, Mrs. Shippee, Ripley's Chinese secretary, Mrs. Storer, Mrs. Southwick, Mrs. Ho, and Mrs. Faulkner. Naturally, talk of Dartmouth prevailed.
