Dr. and Mrs. Edward H. Ross have announced the marriage of their daughter, Helen, to Stephen Chase, Dartmouth '96. The wedding took place in St. Johnsbury, Vt. on September 3, and the couple will live in Dunedin, Fla., where Mr. Chase has established a home as a citrus grower and a cultivator of new strains of gladioli, which have won prizes at the Boston Flower Shows and elsewhere. Miss Ross has been an accomplished science teacher in select girls' schools in Philadelphia and Boston since graduating from College, and maintains a summer home in Danville, Vt.
Granville Howard took a three hour drive on August 28 from his home in Bartlett, N. H. to call on the Secretary and Mrs. Kelly at Greensboro, Vt. It was a pleasure to see him looking so well and to find him so much interested in Class and College. He has disposed of most of his business interests, including his store and hotel, but retains his farm, which furnishes him all he wants to do. His nephew, Newton, (Elmer Howard's son) runs his garage, feed and fuel business and furnishes the young life in the persons of children and grandchildren. Granville's wife died several years ago and they had no children. The former manager of the hotel and his wife maintain his home for him.
Will Newton's achievement in enlisting the support of the families of deceased classmates, as well as that of living members, is indeed spectacular and is creating considerable interest \among other Agents and Officers of the Alumni Council. There is a great reservoir of pride and affection for Dartmouth among the families of Dartmouth men. "Billie" has tapped it for 40% of 86's contribution to the 1949 Alumni Fund. Trust funds left by departed classmates Brown and French yielded another 40% of the $425 credited to our class in 1949-
"Pete" Richmond's daughter, Eleanor, who has inherited all of Pete's enthusiasm for Dartmouth has moved to The Pioneer, 410 Stuart St., Boston 16. She has taken a position with the Babson Institute at Wellesley Hills, Mass. Eleanor has been a constant attendant of Pete for many years at our reunions, and is popular with all who have been present.
