First, congratulations to Rob Brace, who has been named president of America International Group's new venture into the entertainment industry. Rob previously did entertainment lending at Bank of Boston.
Ed Jaicks has been appointed vice president of marketing at Oglebay Norton Company, a Great Lakes shipping and raw materials concern based in Cleveland. Ed had served as manager of North American and Far East ore sales for the Iron Ore Company of Canada affiliate of M.A. Hanna Company. He also conducted soil biology research at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Cold Regions Research and Engineering Lab in Hanover.
The American College of Surgeons recently certified Bob Glicini. For the past four years Bob has been affiliated with the Geisinger Medical Group in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. He and his wife, Paula, have four children.
Some news from the '79s still hanging in there on Wall Street. BEA Associates has promoted Tim Taussig to senior vice president; and the Wall Street Journal has announced that George Vetter has been named a managing director of Montgomery Securities.
Regina Barreca's book on women's humor, They Used to Call me Snow White...But IDrifted, is now in its third printing, having sold over 13,000 copies, and Penguin Books will soon release it in paperback. Regina is an associate professor of English at U-Conn.
Bill and Doreen Paterson are living in Middlebury, Vt. They have two children, Jeremy 2-1/2 and Nathaniel 10 months. In 1985 Bill received a Ph.D in Operations Research from Stanford. Since 1989 he has been an assistant professor of math at Middlebury.
Finally, I hate to bore you guys with more fertility reports, but given that we're approaching the 15th Reunion, the births really are becoming significant achievements. GraceMcGorrian reports that she and her husband, Eric, had a second daughter, Zoe, last August. Grace is living in Pennsylvania where she is a psychiatrist at a community health center. John and Margaret Sewell also had a daughter, Rachel Lea, in November. On March 25 Sage Allison Bierman arrived chez Krista andBruce; she weighed 8 pounds. (See Biers, I didn't make any wisecracks about your waistline.) And ex-Madison Avenue maven Dr. GailFrawley Granow is expecting in June.
