THE ROBERT SIBLEY AWARD, presented annually by the American Alumni Council to the college alumni magazine chosen by a board of judges as the Magazine of the Year, was won by the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE for 1949. Dartmouth, which took the award in 1943 when it was first placed in competition, is the first college to win a second time.

In the departmental competitions also conducted by the American Alumni Council, the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE in its circulation class won two first awards for alumni news and for covers and illustrations and also received honor- able mention for its special articles.

The presentation of the Sibley Award, was made at the national meetings of the American Alumni Council in Williamsburg, Va., in July. On behalf of the stafE of the DARTMOUTH ALUMNI MAGAZINE, Charles E. Widmayer '3O, editor, accepted the silver trophy from William Bentinck-Smith, editor of the Harvard AlumniBulletin, winner in 1948. The winning magazine may not compete for the Sibley Award during the ensuing three years, and its editor becomes ex-officio the direc- tor of the competition for the following year.
