STOMACH DISEASE AS DIAGNOSED BY GASTROSCOPY
December 1949 Jarrett H. Folley, M.D.

by Eddy D. Palmer '39,M '42. Lea ir Febiger, 1949, 200 pp., $8.50.

This volume by Dr. Eddy Palmer is, as the title indicates, a correlation of gastric pathology and gastroscopic study. It does not include any description of the technical operation of gastroscopy but limits itself to a description of the various afflictions of the stomach and their observation and interpretation through the gastroscope. Dr. Palmer has obviously had extensive personal experience from which he has drawn specific case histories. He has also included considerable detail of pathology and discussions of prevalent theories, presenting several viewpoints in controversial matters. His bibliography is a very complete and valuable review of the pertinent literature. The illustrations are many and the gastroscopic plates are particularly well done.

By virtue of the specificity of this volume it will not be read by many but will be considered a valuable addition to the literature by those in this field.
