IN MAKING PLANS for the remainder of this publication year the editors believed that it would be impossible to find room for another "Great Issues" lecture. However, when they had the opportunity to read the transcript of Professor Sidney Hook's lecture on International Communism they quickly decided that they could not afford not to bring it to the attention of their Dartmouth readers. Professor Hook's lucid analysis of the philosophy and strategy of international communism makes many pieces of the world jigsaw puzzle fall into place. It runs somewhat longer than most MAGAZINE articles but the editors consider it a really important contribution to alumni thinking and are pleased to be able to present it in its entirety, as recorded in 105 Dartmouth Hall. InternationalCommunism will be found on Page 13.

The whys and wherefores of Freshman English are described by Prof. F. Cud worth Flint, chairman of that course, in his article "The Rewards Are Skill and Enjoyment," on Page 21. Another member of the faculty, Prof. Herbert W. Hill, announces the forthcoming Hanover Holiday, which he directs, on Page 27.

Although the 39th Dartmouth Winter Carnival occurred after our deadline, we have managed to squeeze in a few pictures of the Queen, prize-winning snow statues, and skiing. They will be found with D.O.C. News and The Undergraduate Chair, Pages 23-25.
