In recognition of his accomplishments during the 1948 campaign, Ernest H. Moore '31 has been awarded the Harvey P. Hood Trophy, given annually to the outstanding Class Agent among classes less than twenty years out of college. The presentation was made at the New York dinner of Alumni Fund agents on April 6, with the following citation:
The Harvey P. Hood Trophy is awarded each year to a class agent representing a class less than twenty years out of College, whose Alumni Fund achievement has been outstanding. The Committee has turned unhesitatingly this year to a man whose record extends through only two years of service, but who in that time has brought his class to a position of outstanding leadership in the Alumni Fund.
This man's personal enthusiasm, diligence, planning, and skill of execution marshalled his class behind the College to such a degree that it achieved a Participation Index of 96 last year. In terms of number of contributors this meant an increase in two years from 378 to 475. Likewise in terms of dollars he raised the gifts of his class from about $8,000 to well over $10,000, exceeding his objective by 15%, and winning the first Green Derby for his class.
Through his entire association with the Fund he has not only inspired his own class, but has rendered valuable service to other agents and other classes, promoting the best interests not only of the Alumni Fund but of Dartmouth College with unselfish devotion. For this service and achievement the Committee awards a Ticknor Print as a token of the Hood Trophy to ERNEST HASKELL MOORE '31.
