AT ITS SPRING MEETINGS June 16-17 in Hanover the Alumni Council elected Sidney J. Flanigan '23 of New York, N. Y., to succeed Roswell Magill '16 as president. H. Clifford Bean '16 of Boston was chosen vice president and Sidney C. Hayward '26 of Hanover was re-elected secretary. The two-day program was attended by 24 present and 21 past members of the Council.

New committee chairmen named for 1949-50 were: Mr. Bean, admissions and schools; Donald G. Mix '21, Worcester, Mass., alumni club activities; John R. Mason '15, alumni fund; John F. Conners '14, Bridgeport, Conn., alumni projects; John L. Sullivan '21, Washington, D. C., bequests; Wilbur W. Bullen '22, class gifts; Osmun Skinner '28, Troy, Pa., class organization; Nathan K. Parker '26, nominating; Charles B. Rice '23, Hartford, Conn., parents; and H. Sheridan Baketel Jr. '20, Philadelphia, Pa., vocational.

James E. Traquair '26 of Cincinnati, Ohio, and John C. Woodhouse '21 of Wilmington, Del. were elected members-atlarge for three years. Alumni council representatives re-elected were John P. Carleton '22 of Manchester, N. H., Dartmouth Outing Club board of trustees; Abner Dean '31 of New York, N. Y., board of proprietors, Jack-o-Lantern; and Mr. Parker, Athletic Council.

Announcement was also made by Mr. Hayward of the election of the following Alumni Council members in the balloting which ended June 10:

District I—Andrew J. Oberlander '26, Montpelier, Vt., and Charles B. Rice '23, Hartford, Conn, (re-elected).

District II—William G. Morton '28, Syracuse, N. Y., and Nichol M. Sandoe '19, New York, N. Y.

District lll—Robert C. Borwell '25, Chicago (re-elected).

District IV—Stephen A. Osborn '27, St. Paul, Minn., and Richard A. Walker '28, Omaha, Neb.

District V—Robert W. Pierce '25, Miami, Fla., and Richard P. White '18, Washington, D. C.

District VI—John M. Cunningham '18, Denver, Colo., and George J. Winger, Kansas City, Mo. (re-elected).

District VII—W. Murray Hawkins '19, Los Angeles.

Prof. Andrew J. Scarlett '10 was re- elected from the faculty.
