Dartmouth 5, Northeastern 2. Coach Jeremiah spent the first part of the season fighting another losing battle against his old enemy, the weather, with the result that he was able to get in only one contest between December 13 and January 10. This contest took place against a scrappy Northeastern aggregation and Dartmouth won in convincing style. Cliff Harrison scored twice for the Green, as did sophomore Hank Waters, who brilliantly centered the second line. The other score was contributed by the versatile Arnie Oss. Veteran defenseman Bob Gray spent a busy evening repulsing the hostile incursions into Green territory. In view of the chronic paucity of early practice resulting Irom the lack of artificial ice, this was a very creditable initial showing.

Dartmouth 3, Bowdoin 1. The only other contest which Coach Jeremiah's charges were able to complete as we go to press saw them journeying into the frozen fastnesses of Maine and returning on the long end of a 3-1 score against Bowdoin. Sophomore Hank Waters contributed the first tally to the Dartmouth cause in the initial period, followed by Captain Walt Crowley's unassisted dash in the same stanza. These two operatives perform on the second line and the first trio managed to break into the scoring column only once, on a tally by Smyth following a pass by Cliff Harrison. The home team averted a shutout in the final second of the game when, with two Dartmouths languishing glumly in the penalty box, Bowdoin slipped the puck past the Dartmouth goalie.

YOU'D THINK THE ICE WAS HARD, the way Captain Walt Crowley and Hockey Coach Eddie Jeremiah are smiling in this cheerful mild-winter pose.
