A TOTAL of $291,988.79 in gifts to the College was received in the last six months of 1949, Sidney C. Hayward '26, director of the Dartmouth Development Council, announced recently in a bulletin to all Council members.

Gifts allocated for specific Development Council projects totaled 1163,926.79. Pledges received from July to December amounted to $27,200, making a total for all gifts and pledges of $319,188.79. The Hopkins Center Fund was increased by $56,400 and $4,250 was added to the Physics building fund.

From June 30, 1949, to February 6, 1950, $63,076.39 was received from classes building Class Memorial Funds. The Alumni Fund, which starts its campaign April 1, had already received $23,500 by the first week in March.

Mr. Hayward reported that progress was being made in Dartmouth's program to increase its scholarship funds. In the late fall, such funds were established by several regional alumni clubs, including New York City, Boston, Maine, Rochester {New York), Vermont, Worcester and the Pacific Northwest (Samuel L. Barnes '07 Memorial). In the last six months payments toward endowment for regional scholarships totaled $33,703.62.
