Thaddeus Seymour, who as Dean of Dartmouth College since 1959 has been on the front line dealing with today's vocal and challenging generation of college undergraduates, was guest of honor and featured speaker at the 105th annual dinner of the Dartmouth Alumni Association of Boston on February 13, at the Harvard Club of Boston.
Dean Seymour, who will become president of Wabash College on August 13, shared the spotlight at the dinner with President Dickey and Ernest F. Babcock '70 of Milton, Mass., co-captain and defensive tackle of the 1969 football team. Robert F. O'Brien '41 of Winchester, Mass., president of the Alumni Association of Greater Boston, was toastmaster.
Dean Seymour came to Dartmouth in 1954 as an instructor in English and also served as volunteer coach of the Dartmouth crew, in which he still retains an active interest. He was named Dean in 1959 and has been responsible for guiding student affairs of Dartmouth's 3100 undergraduates since then.
Howard C. Smith Jr. '52 of Marblehead was elected president of the Association and Stephen R. Parkhurst '52 was re-elected secretary.
