Although this is a reasonably unlikely time of the year to hear about basketball, it may interest our readers to learn that the coach-designate of basketball, Alvin (Doggie) Julian, has been on the job already. For two weeks this spring, he conducted a special seminar for the benefit of the returning varsity, the upcoming freshmen, and various other court hopefuls. Holding forth on the top floor of the gymnasium (where you took your final examinations) Coach Julian had the eyes of players and spectators fairly popping with his energetic training and techniques. The style of play which he adopted with such outstanding success at Holy Cross (where he led the Crusaders to a national cham- pionship) is based upon speed, more speed, and still more speed. Some of his former teams practically ran the opposition out of the park, and this is the same sort of thing he is introducing at Dartmouth. Those of our readers who can see the Green in action next winter should have a treat in store for them. Win or lose, the boys are going to be in there running.
