To say the least, the Northwest Alumni Association is extremely proud to have three such outstanding members as Bob Gibson '39, Whit Miller '40 and Dave Lilly '40. We refer to recent articles published in Fortune magazine and Business Week in which these gentlemen were extolled for the remarkable growth of the Toro Manufacturing Corporation of Minnesota. Toro makes all types of power lawn mowing equipment, and we are certain that the only contact Bob, Whit and Dave have had with these machines prior to going into the business has been from the "pushing" end. Our heartiest congratulations!
The Alumni Executive Committee meeting was held at the home of our new president, Bobb Chaney, the evening of April 13. Activities for the coming year were discussed and a new dues rate schedule was adopted. Alumni members in the Twin Cities area who have been out of college 5 years or more will be billed $3.00; those less than 5 years, $1.50. Outstate members who have been out 5 years or over, $2.00; less than 5 years, $1.00. Gentlemen Lyman Wakefield will be glad to accept your contributions.
The various committees were organized, and although it may be a surprise to some of the men newly nominated, we trust all will be enthusiastic. A complete list will be forthcoming in the June Newsletter.
The annual picnic which we are sure no one will want to miss, is set for June 22 at Henry Thrall's farm. It will be a stag affair. Dave Warner> along with Whit Miller, ArnieOss Jr., Bob White, Bud Wingate, and EddieLynch are taking care of all necessaries. As usual, the ball game will start at 2:30 p.m. and will continue until the ball is lost, either in the orchard or in the darkness. The keg will only be available at home plate.
Just a final note to remind all of you of the Dartmouth Pow-Wow on October 7, 1950, at Detroit, Michigan.
