The biggest single event on our Alumni calendar, of course, is the "Hanover Holiday in The Twin Cities" which took place April 1. At the Coed Luncheon at the Curtis Hotel, the count was 130 after the Cocktail Lounge had finally been cleared. Without exception, everyone appeared to be having a good time. "Cap" Whitney presided and SteveOsborn introduced the speakers.
After a round of Dartmouth songs, the Secretary of the College, Sidney C. Hayward, spoke briefly about "the Dartmouth family" and Joseph L. McDonald, Professor of Economics, spoke very eloquently on "The Economic Foreign Policy of the United States. The final item on the luncheon program was a very excellent movie entitled Dartmouth,Out Doors. It was generally agreed that a finer film has not come out of Hanover.
The evening meeting took place at the Town and Country Club in St. Paul and was attended by about eighty men. Chairman John B. Faegre Jr. of the Scholarship Committee procured a motion from the group to change the James A. Vaughan Memorial Loan Fund to an Endowed Fund with a new name, "Dartmouth Association of the Northwest James A. Vaughan Memorial Scholarship Endowment Fund." He reported that the idea has been discussed thoroughly with the Vaughan family and meets with their approval. A more complete report of the activities of this Committee will appear in next month's news.
