Dr. Ernest L. Stebbins '26, head of the department of public health and administration at the Johns Hopkins School of Hygiene and Public Health, was co-chairman of a team of seven American doctors and public health authorities conducting a six-weeks series of public health planning institutes in Germany this summer. The project, sponsored by the Unitarian Service Committee in cooperation with the Health and Welfare Division of the Office of the U. S. High Commissioner for Germany, included seminars on public health administration and education, sanitation, maternal and child health, bacteriology and other allied subjects.
Dr. Stebbins was Commissioner of Health for New York City from 1942 to 1946. Chairman of the medical advisory board of the Baltimore City Health Department, he is president of the National Health Council and a member of the medical advisory board and board of directors of the American Red Cross.
