Smashing all records, the 1951 Alumni Fund exceeded its $500,000 quota. As this issue of the AlumniMagazine went to press, 15,381 alumni and friends had contributed a total of $568,327 and with final figures still to be determined, it appears that the Fund will top $570,000.
The 1951 Fund, largest in the history of Dartmouth, easily surpassed the special 1946 Fund of $416,677. Alumni participation also established a record exceeding last year's contributor figure by over 300.
At its June meeting the Alumni Council recommended "that any surplus over ... a $500,000 objective be used for some specific purpose for the betterment of Dartmouth College."
Credit for the record Fund must go to Charles J. Zimmerman '23, Chairman, the 1200 alumni workers, and all the loyal and generous alumni and friends of Dartmouth.
