THIS month's shortened issue is given over almost entirely to a review of the Commencement and reunion weekends held in Hanover last month. In addition to an account of The 1951 Commencement, beginning on Page 9, it contains full texts of the Valedictory to the College by Richard C. Pugh '51 (Page 12), the President's Valedictory to the Graduating Class (Page 13), the Baccalaureate Address \delivered by Dr. Reinhold Niebuhr, recipient of the honorary Doctorate of Divinity (Page 14), and the citations read by President Dickey in conferring honorary degrees upon seven men (Page 16). Also printed in full is the Fifty-Year Address given at the Alumni Association meeting of June 16 by the Rev. Robert F. Leavens '01 (Page 18).
The second weekend of reunions, June 2224, is described briefly in an article by Clifford L. Jordan '45, beginning on Page 21. Reports of the individual class reunions are presented in the section of the MAGAZINE normally devoted to the class notes. In each case the report is accompanied by the official class reunion picture, taken by the David Pierce Studio of Hanover.
Important news stories this month include 1926's record-breaking Class Memorial Fund (Page 19), the election of two new Life Trustees of the College (Page 20), establishment by the Trustees of the William Jewett Tucker Foundation (Page 23), and the election of new Alumni Council officers (Page 24) and new General Alumni Association officers (Page 17) for 1951-52.
The Cover Adrian Bouchard has produced a bird's-eye view of the seniors on the lawn of Dartmouth Hall listening to Class Day speakers. Strips of heavy paper were spread for the seniors to sit on, resulting in neat rows such as may never be seen again in the Class Day commotion.
