Reynolds Scholarships Available to Alumni
March 1952

FOUR James B. Reynolds Foreign Scholarships, carrying a stipend of $2,000 each, will be awarded for the academic year 1952-53. Completed applications from alumni must be received not later than March 22, 1952. Established by bequest of the late James B. Reynolds '90, these scholarships make foreign study available to outstanding Dartmouth graduates. Although all alumni are eligible, preference will usually be given to recent graduates and to members of the senior class. The selection process, conducted by the Committee on Fellowships and Prizes, will follow the general pattern of the Rhodes Scholarships. Consideration will be given to the character and ability of the applicant as well as to the soundness and social value of his study program.

No restrictions are placed upon the choice of foreign country or any well-es- tablished educational institution specified by the applicant. In exceptional cases, men may receive Reynolds awards in order to undertake independent research or approved study programs in such fields as art or music abroad. Marital status is not a consideration.

Application forms and further information are obtainable from Professor Henry M. Dargan, Chairman of the Committee on Fellowships and Prizes. An application must contain a detailed statement of the proposed plan of study or research, together with official transcripts of college and graduate school grades and a recent photograph of the applicant. Also, at least three supporting letters from college or graduate school professors or employers (including at least one member of the Dartmouth College faculty) testifying to the character and ability of the applicant should be sent directly to the Committee Chairman. Applications must be received not later than March 22, 1952.
