Looking forward to casting his first ballot in a Presidential election in this country, Walter K. LeCount '14 is back in his home town of New Rochelle, N. Y., to settle down there after years spent in foreign countries.
A veteran Far Eastern bank official, he has traveled more widely than most diplomats. He began his career with the International Banking Corporation of the National City Bank of New York as a foreign service trainee, later becoming an officer of that corporation. He subsequently served as vice president of the Export-Import Bank, and director of the Siam Commercial Bank, Ltd., Bangkok. Another assignment took him to Teheran where he served several years as Treasurer General of the Imperial Iranian Government.
In 1946 Mr. LeCount joined the civilian service attached to the occupation forces in Tokyo, as Chief of the Finance Division of the Economic and Scientific Service of SCAP; and in 1950 he opened a branch of the Bank of America at Bangkok. Other cities where he has had his place of business and home are Singapore, Shanghai, Calcutta, Manila, and London.
